Repair Your Teeth

Improving your appearance, your smile and your confidence

There are several ways we can repair damaged teeth at our relaxed Dental Practice in Cheltenham. We offer traditional general dental treatments, such as fillings through to advanced restorations such as root canal fillings, extractions, dentures, bridges and wisdom teeth removal.

At Shipway Dental we can cosmetically repair teeth that have been damaged or lost through decay or chipped in accidents.

Sometimes teeth need to be repaired or old fillings replaced.  The condition of our teeth plays an important part in our overall self-confidence and health. If your teeth are affecting your lifestyle and you would like to do something about it, come and talk to us.

All of the appropriate options will be discussed with you at your consultation so you can choose the best option for you.

Crowns

A Crown, or porcelain crown, is a cap, cover or restoration to replace the missing portion of a tooth.

There are many reasons for crowning teeth. These can be due to aesthetic considerations but most are due to a lack of remaining tooth structure.

Crowns are an ideal way to rebuild teeth which have been broken, or have been weakened by decay or a very large filling.

The crown fits right over the remaining part of the tooth, making it strong and giving it the shape and contour of a natural tooth.

Veneers

A Veneer is a thin layer of porcelain used to cover the front of a tooth. Our dentists will remove a thin layer of enamel from the front and side of the tooth and replace it with a layer of ceramic porcelain. This is a simple procedure, which can really improve the appearance of your smile.

Veneers can be used to change the shape and colour of your teeth and hide discolouration and close unsightly gaps with little or no work being needed on the tooth itself.

Fillings

Tooth coloured materials are now used routinely for filling teeth, in preference to the older and more commonly used silver metal filling material.

The use of these composite materials which we can reliably bond to the tooth means that we can provide a very hard wearing and highly attractive final result to improve the look of your smile and allow you to laugh with confidence.

Before and After Photos

This lady had failing old crowns in her upper jaw that I replaced with a combination of crowns and veneers, tooth whitening and replacing old composites.

A wear case. This patient had been biting his nails. I restored the front teeth with white (composite) filling material and in doing so protected the back teeth from being worn. He also looked 10 years younger as a result!

I talk to patients about their tooth surface loss and will evaluate how much protection their teeth give them as a part of their basic examination. This is a nice example of where early intervention could have prevented 2-3 mm of wear.
